Iran Hanging Photo
This image is so shocking that I feel that I have to post. Some people may have already seen it, but I think that it needs to be out there. If a society performs executions at all, never mind public executions, then that society’s people need to question their values. Regardless of your cultural background, and regardless of what this guy did, this can’t possibly be the right way to solve the problem.
For those of you who support capital punishment, perhaps you’ll feel different after seeing this photo..

It’s really shocking to see him in such casual, could-be-what-you-wear clothes. Drives home the connection that this is a person.
On related good news, Obama’s relevant appointee unambiguously spoke of waterboarding as torture.

Well – regarding capital punishment, I think the most fucked up part is that in most middle eastern countries, a payment can be accepted by the family of the victim of the crime (unless your crime is faggotry, then I guess you’re doomed) instead of a death sentence. There are some more hanging photos around on the web that feature two fifteen year old boys being hung for being gay.
Side note – what’s with the bright colours they use for ropes?
